Originally thought to be the secret lovechild of the first Captain Boomerang and Captain Cold’s sister, Golden Glider, Harkness reveals that to be nothing more than tabloid gossip when Owen uses his superspeed to save his father from a stray boomerang. And while Harkness’ hatred of the Scarlet Speedster may have been pulled straight from the comics, his superspeed bursts were actually pulled from the skillset of a different Captain Boomerang: his son Owen Mercer.įirst appearing in Identity Crisis #3 by Brad Meltzer, Rags Morales, and Mike Bair, Mercer only met and trained with his father for a brief time before Harkness’ death in a standoff with Jack Drake, the father of then-Robin, Tim Drake. Based on his reaction to hearing he gets to kill the whole Justice League, his rivalry with the Flash is also alive and well within the Arkhamverse. The Rocksteady Games panel that accompanied this trailer shed more light on the version of Captain Boomerang that fans will play as in this game, confirming via mugshot that this is indeed the George “Digger” Harkness iteration of the character. Throughout the trailer he can be seen alongside the rest of the Task Force X tearing through dozens of enemies with his trusty boomerang, throwing it ahead and speeding up to catch it before it can return to him. ![]() He’s got a noticeable obnoxious streak and is clearly only working for the Suicide Squad in order to reduce his sentence, but his abilities that may throw people off. Boomerang’s persona in the trailer seems to be ripped straight from the comics.
